The Friends of Los Osos Library has a tradition of creatively supporting our library and patrons, and in the process raising money to provide even more support for the library. We also provide a great way to recycle donated books and magazines - a win-win for all!

Used Book Sales

Friends of Los Osos Library book sale
Our big events are our used books sales, held three times a year in the library parking lot. In additional to hardback and paperback books, we sell DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, and great bargain-priced books for kids! We welcome your donation of clean, undamaged books. Our winter sale is scheduled for February 4 at Trinity United Methodist Church,490 Los Osos Valley Rd, at the corner of Pine from 9 am until 2 pm. Two bags for a buck starts at 1 pm.

Express Books
Recently released books - fiction and nonfiction - available at no charge for a 7-day loan. These books eventually find their way into the library's regular collection.

DVD Rentals
Missed that new movie when it was in town? Want to see the whole 2010 season of the TV series of "Mad Men" in one week? Los Osos' biggest bargain in DVD rentals is right here at the library. $2.00 gets you the newest and best and maybe something edgy that you never heard of. Try it.
Magazine Sales
If you like an occasional magazine read, but don't want to spring for a subscription, we may have what you are looking for. Recent magazines are available for purchase at the library for 50 cents each. If you would like to donate magazines, a box is provided just outside the front door. Make sure that weekly magazines are no more than three weeks old and monthly magazines no more than three months old.

Exploring Morro Bay Estuary CD
The Friends of Los Osos Library commissioned Tom Neumann of Wildware: Food for Hungry Minds, to create this multi-faceted CD Rom presenting the flora, fauna and science of the Morro Bay Estuary. Appropriate for youngsters, teens and the inquiring adult, it provides panoramic overviews of the estuary and its workings, habitats, plants and inhabitants of the land and sea. This special CD ROM encourages further exploration of the unique resources of the estuary and jump-starts the learning process!

Overdue: A Brief History of the Los Osos Branch Library
Overdue tells the story of the development of the Los Osos library from a single room in a Baywood Park resident's home over sixty years ago to the facility it is today. Written by former Friends' president Sally Marchand, in collaboration with Ardith Wagner and Dorothy Dana, it is more than a history of a building!
